My Teaching Philosophy

Servant Leadership is about empathy, stewardship, listening, and a commitment to the growth of others. I believe in demonstrating this principle through my teaching by putting the student’s goals and needs first.

I aim to create an environment where students feel safe to say what they are thinking, noticing, and feeling in a voice lesson so they can begin to grow into a more independent and developed learner,

The fear-based education model doesn’t work. Instead, building a growth-mindset will allow students to become resilient performers who will thrive in the music industry.

  • We will start with a brief chat to find out more about your goals, and then I will come up with some strategies to accomplish these goals! Regular lessons begin with warmups where we will work on technique, then that will be applied to the repertoire we are working on.

  • This involves a little more talking than a regular lesson. We will discuss goals, background, repertoire, and then we will work on technique through warmups so that I can hear your voice. Please bring a song you feel comfortable singing for the first lesson as well!

  • Whatever you would like! However, we will crossover to different genres since that is a really effective way to grow as a singer.
